Studies (New):
After decades of thought (and nearly decades of research), Laedkha has cracked the code on her research, finding herself able to manipulate the mind's aether itself. This has opened many new doors for her, while creating an air of fear around her.
Having grown impatient from Sharlayan's reluctance to come to a decision on the ethics of her practicing her research, she had finally broke the facade of friendliness and placidity, giving in to her personal desires and finding various "subjects" to practice on, luring criminals to an undiscoverable location with the aid of a voidsent(?) accomplice.This would not be the only shift in her judgement, as she has begun renouncing the name given to her by her mentor, Laevynne, and has started preferring going back to her given name, Laedkha. She has found herself guilty of giving in to her impatience, her desires, and committing herself to consciously manipulating others to get what she wants. However, she finds herself at odds with the moral dubiousness of her actions, having to force herself to be reminded that she wishes to use her newfound abilities to better the Star.Whether this newfound devotion to self-interest would lead to the betterment of the Star, or the loss of anything she held dear, the world was just about to learn...

Studies (Old):
Laevynne is a Sharlayan student currently writing her thesis in the applications of mental magicks when applied to sharing knowledge and information.
It's already proven that memories can be altered, and are a part of the flow of aether -- what if they could put one's knowledge in another's head, or multiple heads?Imagine the foremost leader in a knowledge topic. What if, on their deathbed, you could grab their topical knowledge and put it in all of the current scholars, so that they may start at enlightened levels, pushing theory and knowledge to new heights even faster?There were many possibilities with this line of thought, and Laevynne wants to be the one to crack it.She was initially taken to Sharlayan at a young age from a scholar looking to learn about the Arulaq tribe as it was recently rediscovered. It's unclear in her memory the full events surrounding her going to Sharlayan, but she took a liking to the area and the pursuit of study, and while answering questions and participating in studies on her people, she also learned in return.
She was made an official citizen of Sharlayan shortly after, when the lead of the group studying her and her people, an Elezen named "Unant Dreautisard", discovered her in his personal library having read some of the books there despite having poor skills in the Common language in which they were written. With special permission from her kin, she was allowed to stay there in Sharlayan so long as she came to visit them every now and then, which she happily does.
Although she feels more at home in her scholarly pursuits and in Sharlayan itself, the Mountains will always hold a special place in her heart.She has come to Eorzea to see if there is any information on her field of study that she can glean from in-person pursuits. But being aware that black mages are illegal in Eorzea, she acts under the guise of an archer instead, a talent she found natural to her out East in her mountain homeland.

The Steppe
Laevynne, who's original name (and used in the Steppe) is Laedkha, was born and raised in the recently rediscovered Arulaq tribe.
This leads to her being taller than the average female xaela, slender, and with good nightvision -- living in mountains and in caves comes with its benefits.She is the daughter of a tribal elder, her father; and a shaman, her mother. She has one older sister.Given her social oddities and unique reactions to textures and the like, most of the tribe would look down on her in disappointment. Although she is a proven warrior and has her own Yol, her parents treat her harshly and look down on her endeavours. Her sister, more compassionate and understanding, has always been there for her, but is powerless against their parents to do anything.Laedkha proved herself as a good bowman and huntress, and when she does visit the steppe, she brings with her a myriad of hides not seen in the steppe, as a gift for her family and her tribe. Although fondness of her is growing slowly, she still gets plenty of side-eye for not belonging.

I've been RPing for more than a decade, coming from SWTOR and moving to FFXIV several years ago. Laedkha is not my only character, but I have been playing her for more than 3 years. I work full-time as well as have a successful content creation gig on the side, so my availability can be wide open sometimes (working from home) or really hard for a few weeks. Hook Ideas- Lae is a scholar from Sharlayan! While this is fine and dandy, her claims to fame are both her research, as well as an event where she blew up part of the Studium and killed several other students. There are rumors abound as to the cause or intention!
